DOWNsizing To A Condo

DOWNsizing .. Most of us do it at some point in our life, for many different reasons. Whether the kids have all moved out and you are officially an empty nester, or you are searching for a simpler lifestyle; downsizing from a traditional single family dwelling to a condo can be the perfect solution. And yet .. There is sometimes a negative connotation attached to downsizing and making the move can be very daunting.

With so many incredible Condominium Communities within our Area, Condo living can be the “good life”!

Here are 7 important things to know before you make the move!

  • Every Day Is Garbage Day!

The convenience of being able to toss your garbage and recyclables whenever you want can’t be overstated! No more fighting with stinky compost bins, ripped garbage bags or oversleeping on garbage day and rushing out the door to catch the truck in your house coat!

  • Purge, Purge Purge!

Purge before you move - I promise you don’t need 3 crock pots! Consider selling your oversized furniture for new, smaller-scaled condo sized furniture that will look and “feel” better!

  • Built-In Community!

If you are looking for a community feel, a condominium development is a great place to start. Whether you get to know people getting into your car, using the amenities or at social events - you’ll find a positive and supportive community.

  • Save Money!

Smaller space, smaller bills! You aren’t only heating and cooling a smaller space, you can thank your neighbours on your left, right, above and below for helping keep you insulated.

  • Amenities!

Not all Communities offer Amenities, but consider what you could gain from one that does. Swimming pools, gyms, tennis courts, private beaches - enjoy these amazing activities at a fraction of the price of installing your own!

  • (Almost) Maintenance-Free Living!

One of the many benefits of living in a Condo is owning from the drywall in. Meaning those larger items (siding, windows, roof, structure) are the responsibility of the condo corporation. Although it isn’t free (you pay into this monthly), it’s nice to have a forced savings plan and less worries.

  • Lock And Go!

You don’t have to worry about overgrown lawns, snow ploughing the driveway - when you own a condo it is easier to close the door and walk away for a longer period of time traveling to maybe a second home or venturing around the world!
