Family Day Fun

There are many reasons I love living in South Georgian Bay, but one of them is there is always something to do. It truly provides four seasons of family fun!

Whether it’s adventure you crave or the peacefulness of a hike on one of the many trails the area has to offer, there is no shortage of winter activities to choose from.

I love Family Day. It’s such a great excuse to plan a family activity that takes us outside enjoying all the exquisite beauty of winter. If you are looking for some fun activities, I have a few ideas to share with you.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing

Snowshoes are super easy to use! Everyone gets the hang of it almost immediately. It allows you to travel on top of the snow, instead of plowing through it, so you can venture to ungroomed trails to make it an adventure!
Bonus:
  • If you don’t own snowshoes, they are relatively inexpensive to rent and buy
  • Since you’re exercising, you’ll stay nice and warm as you explore.

Great place for a snowshoe:

Blue Mountain Village

Blue Mountain Village is Ontario’s largest mountain village resort and a four-season destination, and they do winter right. Some activities you can find are:

  • Skiing
  • Snowboarding

Not a fan of the slopes? There’s something for you too! Blue’s winter attractions also include tubing, skating, Plunge Aquatic Centre and a beautiful Snowshoe trail network.

After all that activity, you’re bound to have worked up an appetite. Skip the dishes and enjoy a meal from one of the many fabulous restaurants in the Village. Check out the eateries here.

Skating

Lace ‘em up  and go for a beautiful skate at Woodview Mountaintop Skating. A stunning pine tree-lined loop that you have to experience at least once.

If you don’t own  a pair of skates, rentals are available!

Cross Country Skiing

Cross Country Ski

The perfect Nordic  winter workout and great for all ages! Start off easy on the flat groomed trails.

Great Spots:

Have a wonderful Family Day!
