Striving for balance

In a time when positivity can be hard to come by, I am embracing this new year with a clear mind and open heart. I’ve set a few goals for myself, but one in particular I would like to share with you. Finding the right balance in this beautiful, sometimes hectic, mostly unpredictable life

What does balance look like? Well, I think it’s a little different for everyone, but there are certain elements and practices we can incorporate into our day to day life that can help us get a little closer to it.

Here are 3 things to try:

Striving For Balance - Meditation

Meditation

Did you know that people who meditate have lowered blood pressure, reduced stress and a more restful sleep? These three factors alone have me super interested to at least try.  The practice of mediation allows for an increase of awareness of yourself and your surroundings and trains the mind to redirect your thoughts.

There are so many online apps to facilitate this journey, some free and some paid. Netflix also had a series for newbies that I almost always fell asleep to 😀

Time to Disconnect

A break from Technology. I know, I know, our phones!! But seriously, it’s okay to allow yourself to disconnect for a little while every day. Whether it’s to play with your kids, actively listen to your partner or friend without the incessant bings and beeps, or just lay in the tub. Being present in whatever you are doing will enhance your experience and your life.

Striving For Balance - Get Outdoors

Get Outside

Spending more time in this beautiful area we live in. There is a connection between mental health and spending time outdoors. The sounds, views and fresh air have a very positive long lasting effect on your well being. Boost energy levels, ease stress and anxiety and improve mental health.

Commit to fitness

Committing to Fitness

What I really mean here is movement, and getting my heart rate up! I want to benefit from all of the things a little workout will provide.

  • Strengthen my immune system
  • Clear my head
  • Post workout endorphin rush
